I have lost another pound and a half!!! You take such PERSONAL interest in me. The minute I tell you my back hurts, you throw in an exercise that’s good for my back. If I tell you my knee or wrist hurts, you give me exercises to take care of it. You’ve gone out of your way to give me home exercises to stave off the pain of arthritis. You meet my constant complaining with smiles.
When I started a year ago, you asked me what my goals were in having a personal trainer. All I could think of was lose weight and get in good physical shape. Weight loss meant to lose 10 pounds and be at 150 by the end of May…and good physical shape meant to get my strength and endurance back after not walking or exercising at all for over a year. Both goals have been attained, thanks to you!!! I know my lack of self-discipline will keep me from exercising on my own so now my goals are to build my bone mass, muscles and endurance. You are only my second experience with having a personal trainer and it looks like I will never get a third one….cause I’m sticking with you!!! GOAL!!! I put on the pantihose and skirt this morning and it’s A PERFECT FIT!! We did it! I’m so thankful to you. Yes, I ate and walked well, after my danged broken foot finally healed. But YOU are the reason people are saying “You look so trim.” It’s not the weight loss, it’s the work-outs that account for “looking trim.” Nobody believes I weigh what I weigh, and I know it’s because of the work-outs. Teri was able to start me on a program to help me lose weight. I have dropped over 50 pounds and feel toned and not flabby with the programs she has taught me. I would recommend anyone trying to tone up or lose weight to hire Teri as their trainer. She is a great motivator and she is always there to help and guide.
Cheryl S. Waltham, MA When I turned 60 my doctor said that I entered the decade when things would start to fall apart if I didn’t find a way to get some exercise and keep in shape. With great reluctance I joined the health club, and faced with all those machines and no idea what to do with them, I decided to sign up for a session with a personal trainer. Fortunately, I chose Teri, who was sympathetic and supportive in light of my discomfort at being in a gym. She assessed my situation and developed a program that started where I was and moved me gently forward.
Since that time Teri and I have met every few months. She designs a program which I follow on my own, although she is always available to answer questions if I am not clear about how to do something. When we meet again she checks on how I’ve done with that and goes through the next program with me. I am always amazed at how she comes up with a whole new set of exercises which address the various cardiovascular and strength needs. This helps to keep the workout interesting, challenging and more effective. She explains what she is doing and why. She pushes, but gently. She makes sure you are doing the exercises correctly, but always in a supportive way. After awhile Teri suggested that I try some of the group classes that are offered, so I joined some of the fitness classes that Teri teaches at the club. Teri always changes the activities that are done in the class. She explains why we are doing specific exercises, what the benefits are, which muscle groups are being addressed and why that’s important. Although there is a group of people in the class, Teri calls out encouragement to individuals in the class and walks around assisting participants with their form. When she arrives at Monday’s 8:30 AM class, I am always struck by how joyful she seems-she turns on the music and you just want to start moving! Teri clearly has considerable knowledge and experience and is an excellent trainer. My strength and endurance have improved as a result of her skill and guidance. It may be more important, however, that Teri is always supportive and encouraging, pleased with what you’ve done, never critical of what you haven’t. This has helped changed my attitude about being at the gym, and if you don’t go….none of the rest really matters! Sue F.
